Location of District: Northeastern Part of California
Regions: Butt, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama counties. Portions of Glenn, Nevada and Placer counties are included as well.
Ethnicity of Residents: 79% Caucasian, 12% Hispanic, 3.1% Asian, 1.7% Black, 4% others
Current Representative in Congress: Doug LaMalfa, from the Republican Party.
Notable Attractions: Mt. Shasta is known for attracting skiers because of its high patches of snow during the winters.
Other Information of 1st Congressional District: Redistricted to include previous Congressman Wally Herger, who announced he was retiring.
